Latin American and Iberian Institute (LAII)
The University of New Mexico’s Latin American Studies (LAS) program is a nationally prominent, competitive, interdisciplinary program that offers BA, MA, and PhD degrees. In addition to the MA program, they offer dual degree options with four different programs (Business Administration, Community and Regional Planning, Law, and Public Health) in which students simultaneously earn the MA in LAS and a professional degree.
The LAII fosters research and education within UNM about the cultures, languages, history, and societies of these world regions, and works to share UNM’s expertise and resources with partners including Central New Mexico Community College, K-12 schools, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Instituto Cervantes, and other organizations in the community.
The Feminist Research Institute (FRI)
The Feminist Research Institute is dedicated to the production of scholarship on women, gender, and sexuality. The FRI is also dedicated to the creation of an intellectual community among feminist scholars at UNM. UNM has a large number of feminist faculty and graduate students, and the Institute offers an opportunity to meet and work with others both within and across disciplines.
International Studies Institute (ISI)
The International Studies Institute is an umbrella organization for the interdisciplinary undergraduate program in International Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of New Mexico.
The ISI is dedicated to serving the undergraduate and faculty of each affiliated program. The ISI mission is to provide greater opportunities for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge about today's world of the UNM campus and throughout the state of New Mexico.
Early Music Ensemble
The Early Music Ensemble was founded in 1965 by Dr. Walter B. Keller and was originally called the UNM Collegium Musicum. The chamber music group allows students to explore the music of the medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras in music history.
During the school semester, the Early Music Ensemble course teaches students to play period instuments in order to better understand how music from these earlier times would have sounded to contemporary listeners.
